Quality Control At Durafort
In the demanding world of industrial pumping systems, reliability is not a feature—it is a prerequisite. At Công ty Bơm Durafort Hồ Nam, we do not simply assemble components; we engineer complete fluid-handling solutions through a vertically integrated manufacturing process. Our Quality Control (QC) framework is embedded into every step of production, ensuring that each XSP split case pump, LC vertical turbine pump, HD vertical mixed flow pump, and ZLB vertical axial flow pump delivers optimal performance, even under the most aggressive operating conditions.
This article details our multi-stage quality assurance strategy, covering material traceability, dimensional precision, non-destructive testing, hydraulic performance validation, and post-sales field support.

1. Raw Material Verification & Metallurgical Integrity
Quality begins before melting. Our foundry and procurement teams enforce strict incoming material inspection for all substrates, including:
- Carbon steel & Ductile iron
- Austenitic stainless steels (SS304, SS316L)
- Duplex & super duplex grades (SS2205, SS2507)
- High-alloy materials (904L, CD4MCu)
- Titanium and specialty alloys
Our control measures include:
- Spectrochemical analysis (OES) to verify chemical composition per ASTM/EN standards.
- Mechanical property testing (tensile, yield, and impact at low temperatures).
- Intergranular corrosion tests for stainless grades used in seawater and chemical service.
- Positive Material Identification (PMI) on all critical wetted parts to eliminate alloy mix-ups.
Only certified heats proceed to our pattern shop and molding lines.
2. Foundry & Casting Quality Control
All Durafort pump casings, impellers, bowls, and bearing brackets are produced in-house using resin-bonded sand molding, investment casting, or shell molding—depending on geometry and alloy.
QC interventions during casting:
- Radiographic testing (RT) và Ultrasonic testing (UT) for porosity, shrinkage, and inclusions in pressure-retaining castings.
- Dye penetrant inspection (DPI) on machined surfaces to detect surface micro-cracks.
- Dimensional checks using coordinate measuring machines (CMM) on critical fitments (volute throat, impeller eye, shaft bore).
- Heat treatment monitoring with calibrated furnaces and soak-time logging (solution annealing, quenching, tempering).
We maintain a zero-defect casting policy—any non-conformance triggers immediate rework or rejection, with root-cause analysis documented in our NCR (Non-Conformance Report) system.

3. Machining & Component Fabrication
Precision machining transforms rough castings into high-tolerance rotating assemblies. Our shop floor is equipped with CNC lathes, vertical machining centers, and boring mills, all operated by certified technicians.
Quality gates in machining:
- In-process inspection every 5–10 pieces for critical dimensions (shaft runout, impeller diameter, wear ring clearance).
- Surface roughness testing (Ra/Rz) to ensure proper sealing and reduced hydraulic friction.
- Hardness verification after heat treatment (Brinell/Rockwell).
- Thread gauging for all bolted connections and API flanges.
Every machined component receives a unique serial number, linking it to its material certificate and inspection record—ensuring full traceability from ingot to assembly.

4. Assembly & Rotor Dynamics
Assembly is carried out in a clean, climate-controlled environment to prevent contamination. Our skilled fitters follow standardized work instructions for each pump type.
Assembly QC includes:
- Bearing fitment checks (radial clearance, axial preload, and grease packing).
- Impeller dynamic balancing (Grade G2.5 or better per ISO 1940) to minimize vibration.
- Shaft deflection measurement using dial indicators during dry-run simulation.
- Mechanical seal installation with verified face flatness and spring compression.
We use laser alignment tools during motor-pump coupling, and all fasteners are torqued to specified values with calibrated wrenches.

5. Hydraulic Performance Testing
Every finished pump—whether it is a high-flow ZLB axial flow unit or a high-head HD mixed flow model—undergoes a full performance test on our closed-loop test rig, certified to ISO 9906 Grade 1 or 2 (as required).
Test parameters recorded:
- Flow rate (Q) vs. Head (H) at multiple speed points.
- NPSHr (Net Positive Suction Head required) verification.
- Vibration severity (overall and frequency-domain) per ISO 10816.
- Bearing temperature rise (monitored continuously).
- Noise level (dB(A)) under rated conditions.
- Shaft power and efficiency calculations.
All data is captured via automated instrumentation and compared against our hydraulic design curves. Deviations beyond ±2% trigger impeller trimming or diffuser adjustment before retesting.
Hydrostatic pressure tests (1.5× design pressure) are conducted on all casings and seal chambers to guarantee leak-tight integrity.

Corrosion protection is vital for pumps operating in marine, chemical, or wastewater environments. Our painting line includes:
- Grit blasting (SA 2.5 cleanliness) to remove mill scale and oxidation.
- Surface profile measurement (anchor pattern) for coating adhesion.
- Multi-coat epoxy/polyurethane systems applied by airless spray, with dry-film thickness (DFT) checked by magnetic gauges.
- Curing oven controlled for temperature and humidity.
For stainless and duplex materials, we passivate surfaces and apply anti-spatter coatings on machined faces.
7. Final Inspection, Packing & Dispatch
Before release, each pump undergoes a final audit by our QA/QC team, covering:
- Nameplate data vs. order specification.
- Flange dimensions and orientation (ASME/DIN/BS).
- Rotating freedom (hand-turn test).
- Preservation and desiccant packing for long-term storage or ocean shipment.
- Export crate bracing and moisture-barrier wrapping.
We provide a complete documentation package, including:
- Mill test certificates.
- Dimensional inspection reports.
- NDT records.
- Hydraulic test curves.
- Assembly drawings and IOM manuals.

8. Installation, Commissioning & Field QC
Our commitment does not end at the factory gate. Durafort offers site installation supervision and commissioning services worldwide. Our field engineers:
- Verify foundation grouting and piping strain.
- Perform alignment checks (laser/mechanical).
- Conduct no-load and on-load trial runs.
- Tune VFDs and control systems.
- Measure field vibration and temperature for baseline records.
- Provide operator training and maintenance schedules.
We also offer post-commissioning performance verification, ensuring that the pump matches its factory test curve under actual system conditions.

Why Our Quality Control Matters
Tại Công ty Bơm Durafort Hồ Nam, we understand that a pump failure can mean production downtime, environmental risk, or safety hazards. Our integrated QC system—from molten metal to motor coupling—minimizes that risk. We hold ISO 9001:2015 certification, and our test lab is equipped with traceable standards.
Whether your application involves seawater intake, fire protection, desalination, chemical transfer, or irrigation, our XSP, LC, HD, and ZLB series pumps are built with one goal: uninterrupted, efficient operation over decades of service.
